LONELY

Triste grew up as a shut-in, his only companions being books and computers. He yearns for connections with others, but his guarded nature makes it hard for him to trust others. He's aware this makes him extra vulnerable, which only cycles upon itself when he feels despair about being alone. Although, in recent years, Triste has realized the friends he's made truly are there for him, but it's a work in progress.

INSTINCTIVE

Triste enjoys helping others, but struggles with explaining his process at times. Much of his writing comes from an almost channeling state of mind as he writes down a vivid character argument in his fanfiction. It's a nicer adjective than impulsive, which makes Triste more hyperaware of his ADHD and the guilt associated with it. Triste tends to be very perceptive of his friends behavior around other people, trying to be aware if they need an escape route.

EMOTIONAL

Triste's tear marks may just be for show, but they did show an accurate path of the rivers that flowed from his eyes. Triste considers himself self aware as a sensitive crybaby, but the horrors in his life that has made him cry that way were still harsh for anyone deal with. Being dismissed a lot as a kid, Triste usually trends toward self isolating when his depressions rears its sharp teeth. Still, he's able to provide a shoulder for his friends to cry on too, as he empathizes easily.

CAUTIOUS

Above all else, Triste is awkward, anxious, and tries to be careful. He doesn't enjoy having to hold back his feelings, but is so used to doing it by default in a desperate grasp for safety. Triste is unfortunately fairly good at masking, sometimes not even realizing he's doing it until the emotional drop after. He's been hurt so many times that he wants to at least use that experience as a lesson in deserving better.

BACKSTORY

CHILDHOOD

Triste was born November 1st on a Wednesday. Although his toddler years were filled with lots of attention and coddling, Triste was frequently left to his own devices during the summer. He'd usually great his parent hungrily when they got home, only to be brushed aside because they were too tired.

Triste let his days be filled with adventure games and devouring book after book borrowed from school. Ahead of the class and bored without challenge, Triste started writing his own stories while he tuned out the teachers. It was harder to ignore the bullies who made him feel disgusting for the crime of being fat. Triste found it harder to relate to the people around him, and started making the people and stories he could relate to instead.

COMING OF AGE

As Triste became more pulled into his stories, he found that they reflected a lot of his own active struggles. In realizing this, Triste found that he was being overtly abused at home. This led to a few years of tense power struggles between him and his parents, much of which have left long lasting wounds, contributing to Triste's complex PTSD. Eventually, he managed to leave home, sustaining himself with freelance writing jobs to keep himself afloat.

In his young adulthood, Triste found that he made friends more easily than when he was a child. His gentle and genuine kindness for others helped him form firm, deep connections with the other people in his online communities. Still, going outside was usually out of the question for him.

PRESENT DAY

Triste still enjoys writing, even casually roleplaying with others on occasion. He has 50 work in progress documents and tries to ignore the crushing feeling of imposter syndrome from eating him alive. Luckily, he can rely on his friends to give an encouraging hug and kind words to remind him that it's still all worth it in the end, even if it seems hopeless. He has to keep believing that.
